Thanks to Invisalign, now you don’t have to put up with the conspicuous metal braces for two years to treat simple dental imperfections. The aligners are virtually invisible and can be removed to allow for eating and brushing of teeth. If you’re contemplating seeing your orthodontist for an Invisalign treatment, here is everything to brace for.
Stage #1 – You will be checked for eligibility
Not everyone is eligible for an Invisalign treatment. Your doctor will check your teeth and gums to determine whether the trays will be of use in your particular case. If you’re found to be ineligible, alternative treatments will be suggested.
Stage #2 – Impressions of your mouth will be taken
Since Invisalign aligners are custom-made for your particular tooth alignment, impressions must be taken to help with designing. This is done at your dentist’s office, but the fabrication is done by Invisalign experts in Costa Rica.
Stage #3 – You will receive your aligners
Your aligners will be given to you after they have been received at your orthodontist’s office, typically a week or two later. You will be given enough sets to take you through the first eight weeks or so. Your progress will be assessed when you come for the next batch.
If the teeth movement is not happening as fast or as well as it was planned, changes may be made to the aligners. In some cases, new aligners will have to be created altogether. This means new impressions of your mouth will have to be taken all over again.
Braces are a tested-and-tried treatment for malocclusions with a good success history to show for their status, but if those metal brackets are having you thinking twice about fixing your smile, try Invisalign aligners for the same results and a less damaging impact on your appearance.
